Vitamin D, also known as "The Sunshine Vitamin", works synergistically with Vitamin A to prevent its oxidation. The combination of A & D makes them more readily absorbed. One of Vitamin D's primary functions is to help in the absorption of calcium and the breakdown and assimilation of phosphorous, which is required for bone formation.
SIDE EFFECTS / PRECAUTIONS: Prolonged use of doses of greater than 25,000I.U. Vitamin A may lead to bone and joint pain, hyperostosis, hair loss and anorexia.
Vitamin D is relatively non-toxic but excessive doses can cause hypercalcemia. Pregnant and lactating women should consult their physican before taking high doses of
Vitamin A and D.
