As the name implies, coral calcium is extracted from coral. The calcium is embedded in a natural matrix of trace minerals. Our bodies rely on trace minerals for many functions, from heart health to bone density. Coral has even been found to contain anti-viral agents.

Coral contains a highly absorbable form of every trace mineral needed by the body. In fact, the mineral matrix in coral is so compatible with human needs that some orthopaedic surgeons now use coral grafts instead of bone grafts.

One reason for this may be the low acidity of coral calcium. Many studies have shown that vegans are at significantly decreased risk of diseases ranging from osteoporosis to heart disease than individuals who eat animal products, suggesting that a naturally low-acid supplement such as coral calcium would be a wise choice.

The Importance of Calcium
Calcium is important to strong bones and teeth. In childhood and adolescence, it contributes to peak bone mass, which is achieved by about age 20. In adulthood, it is important for women who experience pregnancy and lactation. It is increasingly important to post-menopausal women and men over the age of 65, when decreasing hormone levels can adversely affect bone density, perhaps leading to osteoporosis.

But calcium is important for other functions, too. Ninety-nine percent of calcium is stored in bones and teeth, the other one percent in the blood. One percent may sound insignificant, but is in fact vital to healthy blood pressure and heart function.

Each Vegetarian Capsule of SISU Coral Calcium Contains:
Elemental Calcium 250 mg (from calcium carbonate derived from ecologically harvested Okinawa coral in a naturally occurring matrix of 72 trace minerals including magnesium)
Vitamin D (vegetarian) 200 IU

Suggested Adult Dosage
1 capsule 4 times daily with food.

Contraindications
No adverse effects. Should not be taken together with tetracycline as it inhibits uptake of this antibiotic. May be taken two hours before or after tetracycline. Avoid high-dose iron as it blocks calcium absorption.
