Ginkgo Biloba extract has long been recognized for its ability to prevent platelet aggregation and improve peripheral blood circulation. The benefits of taking Ginkgo Biloba extract include, stroke and demencia prevention and short term memory improvement.

The primary benefits of ginkgo seem to derive from its ability to promote the widening (dilatation) of blood vessels, which improves blood flow in tiny vessels throughout the body. For example, this can reduce the buildup of fluids (edema) throughout the body and reduce symptoms of a wide range of disorders affecting the legs, brain, eyes, ears, and other organs.

The ginkgo biloba extract is characterized by 35~67:1, on average 50:1 drug/extract ratio, which contents 22~27% flavone glycosides, 5~7% terpene lactones. The standardized extract consists of 24% flavone glycosides and 6% terpene lactones. The German Commission E recognizes ginkgo biloba for its ability to improve blood flow (particularly in the region of microcirculation), memory performance and learning capacity. It has been widely used for treatment of disturbed performance in organic brain syndrome within the regimen of a therapeutic concept in cases of demential syndromes with the following principal symptoms: Memory deficits, disturbances in concentration, depressive emotional condition, dizziness, tinnitus, and headache. It is also effective against Vertigo and tinnitus (ringing in the ear). Ginkgo leaf products might benefit CNS (Central Nervous System) and vascular conditions by improving circulation. Ginkgo leaf seems to improve blood flow to capillaries throughout the body including in the CNS, eyes, ears, extremities, and other tissues. Ginkgo leaf likely improves circulation by both decreasing blood viscosity and affecting vascular smooth muscle. Ginkgo leaf seems to restore the balance between prostacyclin and thromboxane A2, resulting in improved vasoregulation. Therefore, ginkgo leaf relaxes spasmodic contracting vasculature and contracts abnormally dilated vessels. It is not clear exactly how ginkgo causes vascular contraction and improves venous tone, but these effects might be due to phosphodiesterase inhibition, resulting in increased cAMP levels and release of catecholamines. Some ginkgo constituents may also have a potent relaxing effect on vascular smooth muscle and improve blood flow to the corpus cavernosum; which is thought to be helpful for erectile dysfunction. Overall, ginkgo leaf seems to increase cerebral and peripheral blood flow microcirculation, and reduce vascular permeability.

Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus) has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for more than two thousand years. German health authorities endorse Siberian ginseng as a tonic for invigorating and fortifying the body in times of fatigue, debility, convalescence, or declining capacity for work and concentration. Natural Health Product Directorate of Health Canada has listed Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus) in its monograph and recognizes its ability to improve memory and increase stamina. By combining Siberian Ginseng, it supplements the benefit of ginkgo biloba.

L-Glutamic Acid is a major source of energy for the brain and functions as neurotransmitters which are substances that are deposited at the end of a nerve cell and picked up by the next nerve cell in order to send nerve impulses throughout the brain and the nervous tissue in the body.
